ABG 5420 Paver Brings Value to the Indian and Export Markets
Ammann has released the ABG 5420 Paver, a midsize machine with the sophistication of much larger highway-class pavers. The paver is built for the Indian market and for exporting outside India.
“First and foremost, the ABG 5420 offers value,” said Frank Dörrie, Global Product Manager at ABG. “Its production is considerable given the low purchase price and ownership costs. It’s a quiet machine, too.”
The paver brings an ideal blend of power, efficiency, traction and stability. A 101-kW Eicher CEV Stage V engine powers the pavers in the Indian market. A Stage T3 Deutz (Volvo) D4E engine with 96kW is utilised in export markets.
The ABG 5420 has theoretical output of 600 tonnes per hour when using a double conveyor and can work at a pace of 17 metres per minute. The ABG 5420 can place mats as thick as 300 mm.
Hopper capacity is 12 tonnes. The front apron is angular to prevent sticking and segregation. A reversible conveyor ensures continuous material flow. Auger control is ultrasonic.
Fuel economy is a key benefit. The paver’s intelligent electronic system utilises Eco Mode to match engine output. This extends engine and component life and cuts fuel usage up to 30%. Eco Mode’s optimisation of RPMs also reduces sound levels.
The paver design, an adjustable seat and the dashboard help the operator see all phases of the paving process. This improves operator comfort, productivity, quality and safety.
Other benefits of the pavers include:
Intuitive operation
Operators can control the paver with complete confidence thanks to the new-generation Electronic Paver Management (EPM2.5) system. The industry-renowned system consolidates all control buttons in a single location. Quick adjustments can be made with the jog wheel.
Helpful service reminders
Service Interval Manager, accessed through a dedicated display on the EPM2.5 panel, alerts the operator to required or scheduled maintenance.
More fuel-friendly features
The hydraulically driven, electronically controlled cooling fan automatically regulates its speed, reducing fuel consumption and sound levels. An auto-idle feature also conserves fuel.
Dry and cool
The roof can be raised and lowered hydraulically to protect the operator from sun and rain.
Advanced screed
The Omni V ETC, the industry’s most rigid Variomatic screed, provides smooth, pre-compacted surfaces in multiple applications. The tamping and vibrating Omni V offers on-the-go width changes from 2.5 metres to 4.75 metres. Extensions enable widths up to 7.5 metres.
Smooth surface
Quality-boosting levelling options include a MOBA levelling sensor kit with sonic, rotary and slope control.
Easy screed control
Screed Control Units (SCUs) allow the operator to effortlessly control functions and material flow. The SCUs are flexible and can be rotated in any direction. An SCU is located on both the left and right sides of the screed for convenience and responsiveness.
Track tension
Ammann’s unique automatic track tensioner eliminates the need for manual adjustment. The tensioner ensures the paver maintains consistent direction and increases the life span of track components.
Quick track pad changes
Bolts are conveniently located inside tracks to enable fast, convenient pad swaps.
Idler rollers
Guide rollers for the track chain separate the chain and frame, furthering component life span.
